Our Mission

The Ballet Studio of Carmel strives to preserve the art of ballet and instill a love of dance in all students by focusing on the whole child. An education in dance is an education in confidence, grace, discipline, and devotion. The lessons learned here reach far beyond the doors of this school.

My daughter loves the laid-back environment at The BSC! We didn't want to go somewhere where dance was expected to be the only focus outside of school because our daughter enjoys sports as well as other activities. Ashley meets the kids where they are and encourages them to keep participating in their other interests. She was so excited when my daughter came in wearing her wrestling medal after the state tournament.

My daughter and I have been dancing at this studio for 4 years. We love it! It is such a welcoming and loving environment. I definitely feel safe while I'm there; and when I leave my child there for her lessons or camp I know that she will be safe, loved, and encouraged. The prices are reasonable and transparent, with no up-charges for recital costumes. But the best thing about the studio is Ms. Ashley. She is professional and well-trained, but also really knows how to teach kids of different ages and abilities and different learning styles. She is so kind and encouraging to all her students. I'm so excited about the new class offerings this year, too! It's going to be an exciting ballet season!

We love The Ballet Studio of Carmel and Ms. Ashely! My daughter has been taking classes with Ms. Ashley for 5 years and I would not put her anywhere else. The love, learning, and grace she has learned in her dancing as well as in her treatment of others is a tribute to Ms. Ashley and her love for all her students. I know Ms. Ashley personally cares about each dance student. The Ballet Studio of Carmel will continue to be a positive influence on my child and so many others.

Ms. Ashley
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR / FOUNDER

Ashley Thibodeau (Ms. Ashley) began her dance training at the age of three at the Madeleine T. Walker School of Ballet in Savannah, Georgia. She quickly developed a deep love of ballet and a passion for performing. As a student, Ashley studied at Ballet Chicago, Colorado Ballet, The Kirov Academy of Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Richmond Ballet. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University on scholarship and graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Choreography. Ashley has had the opportunity to perform across the country with many professional companies such as, Dance Alive! (Gainesville, FL), Colorado Ballet, Richmond Ballet, and Starr Foster Dance Project. She performed Jose Limon's iconic "A Choreographic Offering" at the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Washington DC. In 2002, Ashley began teaching an advanced ballet class at a local dance studio, and discovered that she loved teaching dance just as much as performing. She has taught ballet, pointe, modern, and jazz all over the country. Ashley has served as director and ballet mistress of student ensembles and has choreographed three full length ballets and numerous other pieces over the years.

Ashley began teaching ballet out of her home studio in 2016 and The Ballet Studio was born. As Owner/Artistic Director of The Ballet Studio of Carmel, Ashley has had the opportunity to build relationships and share her love of dance with many Hamilton County families. Ashley was thrilled to move The Ballet Studio to its new location in The Carmel Arts and Design District, and looks forward to teaching and training dancers in a beautiful space on Main Street. She and her husband Brian live in Carmel with their five children.
